How to Have More When You Have Nothing

I viewed some financial gurus or life coaches' videos inviting viewers (through sponsored Youtube advertisements) to join their free webinars. As a come-on, they show what they have purchased (big houses, luxuy cars, travels, etc.) by applying time-tested wealth-generation systems, which they say, took them many years to learn so prospects do not have to go on long bloody routes and many trial-and-error cycles. They offer wealth generation courses for a substantial amount of money.  They say -- "Money will not make you happy but lack of it will make you unhappy".

Of course participants get very interested because of the very convincing presentation and there are testimonies, too. Mmm. Then some of them say, "OK, mentor me, please, and I will pay you after I generate money from your system. I am poor."

The wealth gurus say, "If you don't have resources, you can be resourceful."

A wake-up line? See these people are millionaires or even billionaires, but they want those poor ones to pay for their system. Don't they have the CSR (Community Social Responsibility) programs? Or they think  that when a person gets what he wants the easy way, it slips the quick way?

There are many free courses online but why do people prefer to pay for premium courses? Because we think that attached to a price is the value quality.

You want to sow good seeds, and later reap bountiful fruits. But how? How can you be resourceful to have more in life? How can you produce something when you think you have nothing except your clothes and whatever basic things around you?

Given the givens -- bad situation -- no job, broken marriage, failed business, some illnesses due to stress, rejection, failures, mistakes, humiliations,  pressures, near-eviction stage, etc. In short, heavy world.

But you have a priceless gem -- you life which some millionaires are fighting for even for a day, or a week or month's extension in the hospitals at this very moment. At least you know how to read and write. You have some skills. The important thing -- you have hopes and you see sunlight.

For now I suggest you do the following on how to have more when you have nothing, practically nothing --
  1. Pray for God to give you wisdom and strength to be calm and carry on.
  2. Take a rest, relax, sleep, breathe and exercise as you need vigor and energy to win your battle.
  3. List down your skills which you can utilize and trade for value. Be grateful for what you have.  Think of new ways through which you can give solutions or answers to people's problems or needs. You need to write the concepts down and draw the flowchart, plus the timelines.
  4. Go out and find ways to get connected to your target market directly or indirectly (say, real estate transaction referrals).
  5. Minimize your things by selling, donating or throwing stuffs that really, really don't matter to you. (Lesser space means lesser rent.) It makes sense to view more videos on "minimalism".
  6. If you know business owners or operators who offer basic items or services you need, swap those with your services (say, marketing services or website design if you know how to do it -- so get interested to enhance your skills and know more -- if you can find way to enrol in a course with a verifiable certification, do it!).
  7. Join groups and networks of people  with same interests as yours, preferably resourceful ones, and find an opportunity to be of service to them (say, photography, video recording or catering services).
  8. Focus on your goal by having a vision board and challenge yourself every single day to get closer to your targets, without losing your balance.
You have a spring of creativity inside you. In times of adversity, every thought that you can convert into something is a manifestation of the incredible power of resourcefulness that can attract blessing after blessing.

Some letters in the alphabet stand near each other for a meaning that can be easily remembered. BRO. BC. RS. OU.

B and C.  Brains and Courage.
R and S.  Resourcefulness and Satisfaction.
O and U. Opportunity and U (You -- the power in you)

Do not be confused if something goes wrong and you think that is not the right road. Keep looking.  You may not succeed immediately. On some days, again you will taste the bitter defeat, and maybe you say,  "Am used to it. Enough!"  Keep going, and passionately move forward.

Cracking your brains and figuring things out on how to have more when you have no resource -- as in zero -- can  drive you mad. It is like you were asked to produce a bird from a handkerchief, yet you are not a magician. But there must be a way to make things happen. Taking courageous actions to that path to opportunity is the way.

Being resourceful will help prevent madness. Preventive, right? You will be busy and if things turn out well, you get satisfied with the result of your actions. This will match your particular needs at least for a day, then for a week, for a month, a year and more. There will be a progress for sure.

All you need to do is to feistily endure for the moment when you have nothing, creatively do something for a purpose, and firmly believe that you can blissfully exceed far beyond what you think is your maximum line of resourcefulness.

"Wasting of Women's Talents Must Cease"

Here I am in a four-cornered room, thinking of many things that I can do considering my talents, but I cannot utilize to the fullest due to some obstacles which are not just in the mind but real. I am woman -- I know I have a power inside me yet I feel vulnerable. There is an interesting article published in Gulf News, "In the Middle East, Momentum for Women Must Pick Up Speed" written by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, dated 31 May 2018. Very timely, indeed, that I saw this article few minutes back. I am inspired to read similar write-ups promoting advocacy on importance of empowering women by giving them solid support. Can we quantify wasted women's talents? Maybe we can in terms of lost opportunities. Or can we enumerate wasted women's talents if we cannot quantify them? There are women who are full-time mothers and housewives, either by choice or by tradition or both. We know that being so is indeed a tiring unpaid job for many women. For some they ...

Of Ginger-Lemon Water, and A/C Off

And so I am now again drinking a lot of hot lemon tea with ginger. It will help improve my health immunity .  WebMD.com says, " Lemon is a rich source of vitamin C and antioxidants, which both have immunity-boosting properties. Ginger also has immunity-boosting properties and can guard against some bacteria." Am coughing when my back is sweating. The air conditioner is switched off again. If you are in the Gulf area, even if it is December it is still hot. There are times when it is even hotter inside my partitioned room with a window facing the sun, no building near ours to block the scorching heat -- than the actual temperature outside. I have a temperature app in my mobile phone and I regularly check it. When I switch on the air conditioner, somebody else switches it off. (I remember when we transferred to the our previous flat and I was told that the A/C was centralized, 24/7 on. I was grateful because the heat of human bodies, the lights, their gadgets -- laptops and m...

'Hotelcation' and More

My youngest daughter surprised me with the good news that she was allowed to go on Eid vacation for some days. She badly needed rest and relaxation for a work-life balance. It was very hot here in the UAE when we got blissfully reunited at 2 PM.  It was Eid so most hotels nearby were either fully booked, or if not, their room rate boards showed AED800/day +/-. My frugal daughter stepped back when she saw 'towering' figures. A I watched my Buninay eating halohalo in our meeting place, a restaurant serving Filipino foods, I held my tears back. She ordered 'mixed-with-everything' fried rice, grilled squid and  kinilaw  (raw fish with vinegar, chili and chopped onions).  Memories of her childhood flooded in my mind. How time flies! My then-baby-who-is-now-a-lady wanted to spoil me. Felt truly blessed beyond words. We hopped to Seattle's Best in the mall near the mosque. While indulging myself with my favorite Cinnabon bites and strawberry smoothies, and my ol...
