Debt-trapped and Drowning?

Debt stress is a silent killer. When we allow negative circumstances to enter our system, we feel like we were drowning to death. My friend, 40 years old, is single, but she was like a single mom providing support to her sister, her sick husband, and their precious baby. It took many years before the couple had a baby so she's a gem, and my friend had spent a fortune from the moment she was in sister's womb. Recently her brother-in-law was brought to the hospital and after few days in intensive care unit, he died and they were left with a huge debt. She wanted to be with her sister, or at least send her money -- but what could she do? They were not paid salaries for three (3) months. She was behind her rent for three (3) months also. Banks were calling and threatening her. She already emailed them informing about her situation and requesting not to call her during office hours as stress almost paralyzed her system. Another friend who also helped her family during thei

Opportunities for Creatives in the UAE

There is a good news for creative people to have a chance to get a 10-year residence visa in the United Arab Emirates, the land of opportunities, a safe hub to 200+ nationalities. Implementing rules will be announced hopefully in the third quarter of 2018. As far as I know, employment visa for expatriates is good for two (2) years, investors, three (3) years and students, one (1) year, renewable. If 10-year visa will be approved for creatives, then the country can incubate and produce home-grown talents who can potentially be the players for unicorn businesses in the future. Merriam Webster Dictionary defines 'creative' as 'having the quality of something created rather than imitated'. When we hear the word 'creative', we think of artists, performers like singers, writers, etc. Being creative requires an imaginative mind to think of something new and better which gives a happy feeling. Everything is created in the mind first before making it r

Just Be Happy

"Just be happy" is indeed a very moving line. Whatever our circumstance in life is,  for now just be happy as an innocent child who knows nothing about the cruel world. As Guillaume Apollinaire once said, "Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy." When I was young, my mother and I regularly went to church. The words of the priests echoed repeatedly in my mind, "Comfort those in sorrow" as I sat down.    I did not have any idea about the true meaning of sorrow because I had loving parents and brother who made me feel loved. That time, lacking in material things would not make me sad -- as long as after a day's work in her dress shop, my mother would come home at night on weekdays and on Sundays she'd cook something special for all of us. I spent my Saturdays in my mother's dress shop or in some places in the locality with many trees which my friends, relatives and I climbed. My favorites were ma

A Wedding Made in Heaven

I still have the royal wedding fever, highly amazed by the 'love, love, love' spirit captured from the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle last 19 May 2018.  It is indeed a Cinderella story for Meghan! While watching it on livestreaming, I could not hold back my tears. Here are two (2) people in love who are both brave to fill the vacuum in their lives and move forward in life as one, on same page, to leave an impact in the world. Looking at Prince Harry, one can tell how he misses his mother Princess of Wales Diana in this important event and how he adores the woman of his life! He disrupts everything by courageously marrying a divorcee three (3) years older than he is, 36 years old. His mother died at that age, and it is at this age his wife will start her life in a new world with him. The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle was very beautiful and calm from the beginning until the end of the event, which made her shine more. The simple but elegant dress made her l
